Virtual Therapy

The Basics

Virtual therapy has been a thing since long before the pandemic. Personally, I have been providing art therapy and psychotherapy services virtually since 2018.

Virtual therapy makes accessing therapeutic services easier, and they most certainly are not meant for everyone. With the virtual space we will be limited in expressions and tone, it can be really hard to read a person (and therapist) if this is something you think might be more difficult - let me know, I’m always happy to problem solve and figure out accessibility things if I can.

I use only the most secure platforms I can find (and afford!), because your privacy is most important to me.

What do I need for virtual therapy?

Not a whole lot!

  1. A secure internet connection. Ideally something with a password, and that’s no public.

  2. A device equipped with a webcam, microphone and speaker

JaneApp Profile. which you get when we book your consultation!

    1. JaneApp will send you the meeting link 30 minutes before your appointment.

    2. I reccomend using Chrome to connect.

  3. A space that’s private. Also, keep in mind what might be seen on camera - your therapist is now in your space.

Advised but not necessary:

  1. A comfy sitting place

  2. Headphones

  3. Remove as many distractions as possible (silence your phone, shut down email, etc.)

Art Therapy At Home

Since you will be at home, it will be your responsibility to set up the art space and have some materials on hand. If you have none, we can make a plan and work with what you have. Digital art is always welcome as well!

What if I booked virtual but I want to come into the office? Or the other way around?

That’s totally cool! I’m flexible to meet needs. If you are uncertain, it’s easier to book in-person and flip to online than the other way around.

I need to know more!

Alright, lets chat in the constultation!
